PTSDarling: Linden and Rose elixir (1oz)
Inspired by an incredible rose glycerin made by a friend, I created this simple and sweet combination of linden and rose. It reminds me of the warm swirl of honey at the bottom of a cup of tea—a gentle hug from an old friend. My intention is a heart-chakra-opening love note to our inner child, a reminder that we are more than the various traumas that get piled on our exhausted human forms over time. One that can help to uplift us, or gently shift grief.
Rose can be a very opening plant ally, connecting to water and the sacral chakra. Associated with the heart, it can assist us with moving through grief, heartache, an energetically broken or blocked heart, or depression. Rose can also be a heart-opener for trauma that we may be storing in the pelvic region.
Also called lime blossom, linden is a well-known relaxing remedy for use in conditions of nervous tension, and as a prophylactic against the development of arteriosclerosis and hypertension. Known for its sweet, nurturing “motherly” energy, linden lends a calmness and has a general effect upon the circulatory system, which may ease some forms of migraine. It can also be useful for restlessness and insomnia.
This formula asks: where are our tender spots? How do we show up with respect, love, tenderness for ourselves and others? It reminds us: we are soft, and sweet, and deserve to be loved and adored for everything that we are.
Ingredients: rose petals, linden leaf and flower, white rum, vegetable glycerin
Herbal actions:
(Rose) Energetics: Sweet, bitter, moist
Actions: Anti-inflammatory, Antidepressant, cardiotonic (mild), nervine aphrodesiac, carminative, vulnerary
(Linden) nervine, anti-spasmodic, diaphoretic, diuretic, mild astringent, tonic
Dosage: Take 1-2 dropperfuls of tincture, up to 3 times per day in-between meals. May be soothing taken before potentially stressful interactions with others, before meditation or exercise, or to recover or “come down” from a trauma activation or panic attack.
